2021考研英語(yǔ)翻譯寶典：抽象名詞的翻譯

摘要：科技英語(yǔ)中有名詞化的傾向。這其中包括一些由動(dòng)詞變過(guò)來(lái)的動(dòng)作名詞和動(dòng)名詞，如examination，examing。這樣的抽象名詞本身就含有很強的動(dòng)詞意味，故在翻譯的時(shí)候經(jīng)常轉譯成動(dòng)詞。此外，還有一些是形容詞加后綴 -ity,- ness, -ability構成的名詞，翻譯的時(shí)候可以靈活譯成相應的動(dòng)詞、狀語(yǔ)(從句)、分句、意合句等等。

　　We were caught up in a discussion about the situation in Afghanistan when the professor walked into the classroom.

　　譯文：當教授走進(jìn)教室時(shí)，我們正在興致勃勃地討論阿富汗局勢。

　　It would be wise to handle this delicate problem with calmness and patience.

　　譯文：冷靜耐心地處理這個(gè)微妙的問(wèn)題是明智的。

　　Even an elementary knowledge of statistics is sufficient to enable the journalist to avoid misleading his readers.

　　譯文：即使只懂得一點(diǎn)統計學(xué)的初步知識，也足以使記者避免報道失真。(名詞詞組譯成狀語(yǔ)從句)
